We set traps for small mammals on several evenings in August. |

| Two types of trap were tried, well stocked with bedding and food - including grass, hazelnuts and blackberries from the site. These included transparent plastic and aluminium boxes, with trap doors with a simple trip mechanism. | |||

| The traps were visited the following morning. About half of them caught mice, varying with the location. So far no other mammals have been caught. | |||

| The mice caught all appear to be wood mice (long-tailed field mice). Some were a darker colour, possibly juveniles. They were not at all easy to photograph. After a quick look they were released back into the grass. | |||
